Wynyard Camping Spots

Black River Campground

This campground is managed by Parks and Wildlife and fees are payable at the self-registration station. There are lots of secluded campsites from 1 kilometre to 5 kilometres from the highway amongst scrub near the river.

Facilities include : NO picnic tables : Fireplace – supply your own wood : Pit toilets : NO drinking water : Dogs are OK : Suitable for all sized caravans : Camping fees apply.

Turn north off the Bass Highway, 41 kilometres west of Inglis Street (northern turnoff to Wynyard) and 8 kilometres east of the Stanley turnoff, where it is signposted to the campground. Travel 1.5 kilometres from the highway.

Peggs Beach Campground

This large grassy campground is managed by Parks & Wildlife and fees are payable at the self-registration station. There is a short entrance road leading off the highway to the camping spot which is behind lots of trees and on the foreshore. It is very popular in the summer with the locals.

Facilities include : Covered picnic table : Fireplace – supply your own wood : Flushing toilets : NO drinking water : Dogs are OK : Suitable for all sized caravans : Camping fees apply.

Located on the Bass Highway 38 kilometres west of Inglis Street (northern turnoff to Wynyard) and 11 kilometres east of the Stanley turnoff.
