Toowoomba is known as 'The Garden City' and has 150-plus public parks and gardens. The city is situated on the crest of the Great Dividing Range, around 700 metres above sea level. A few streets are on the eastern side of the edge of the range, but most of the city is west of the divide. Water for the city is sourced from three dams, the Cooby Dam which is the largest, Perseverance Dam and Cressbrook Dam which is the smallest.
