Pioneer Cottage

This beautiful home was built around 1882 and was originally owned by John Burnett and his wife Anne North. Together with an increasing family of nine children the Burnett family lived a homely life in the serene beauty of Buderim Mountain. Artefacts and implements around the house showcase the early times and the subsequent development of Buderim itself as an agricultural settlement. In 1965 the owner at that time offered the former Burnett residence to the Buderim community, which they duly accepted. Restorations and changes were made to the house and on 23 September 1967 historic Pioneer Cottage became a museum opening to the public. Today the house is planted with delightful gardens and it is kept as a historic museum displaying relics and memorabilia of our pioneering forebears.
