Tweed Heads is as far north as you can go along the east coast in New South Wales. The town abuts the Queensland border, which becomes Coolangatta on the Queensland side, with both of these towns known as the Twin Towns.

Queensland does not operate on daylight savings time, so there is a time difference of one hour when crossing the border between October and April.

To get to the Information Centre (from the south), veer left off the Pacific Motorway at the Kennedy Drive/Tweed Heads exit. At the first roundabout take the third exit onto Kennedy Drive (towards Tweed Heads and Ballina). Drive under the motorway, continue straight ahead along Kennedy Drive for 1.5 kilometres then veer left towards Wharf Street and Tweed Heads. After 250 metres merge onto Terranora Terrace. Follow this road which becomes Wharf Street for 1.3 kilometres then turn right onto Bay Street (first street after the Francis Street roundabout). Woolworths is on one side of Bay Street and the Information Centre is on the other side. If there is no parking beside the Information Centre, continue 100 metres along Bay Street and there is a drive-through parking area on the left.
