Tibooburra is a tiny village on the south-eastern boundary of the Sturt National Park. It is surrounded by scatterings of granite boulders that could be mistaken as a scene from Mars. It claims to be the hottest and most remote place in New South Wales. Facilities in the village include a General Store, Post Office, Hotel, Roadhouse, Racecourse and a small Airport which is 3 kilometres east of Tibooburra.

The NPWS Centre has maps for walking tracks and 4WD tracks and the latest information, on road and weather conditions, are also available.
