Taree is 8.5 kilometres west of the Pacific Highway from the northern entrance and 4.5 kilometres from the southern entrance which is also the start of Bucketts Way and the township lies on the banks of the Manning River. The beautiful parks of Fotheringham Park, beside the river at Victoria Street and Queen Elizabeth Park, on the riverbank end of Pulteney Street are great places to enjoy a picnic, feed the birds or simply sit and enjoy the river.
The Taree Visitor Information Centre is open 7 days a week from 9.00am-4.30pm (Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday) and there are plenty of car parking spaces and several parking spaces for caravans.
