This grassy rest area is behind the Bush Fire Brigade building.

Facilities include : NO picnic tables : NO barbecues : Toilets - but they are usually locked : NO water : Dogs are OK : Suitable for all sized caravans – self contained vehicles only: Maximum stay of 24 hours.

Turn off the Bruxner Highway at the western entrance to the village of Mallanganee onto Sandilands Street (signposted to Shopping Centre and Public School). After 650 metres turn right onto Pine Street and the Fire Brigade building is 150 metres on the right.

West of the Range Rest Area


This sealed rest area is right beside the has a turning circle, a few shade trees, an information board and peace circle carvings. These carvings express the feeling of peace and unity in the communities west of the range. The central block is for those of you who also wish to have a go at carving. It stands opposite Sandilands Homestead, once the home of the Bruxners, after whom the highway is named.

Turn off the Bruxner Highway, 7 kilometres west of Mallanganee and 9 kilometres east of Tabulam where it is signposted to Bonalbo and Urbenville. The entrance to the rest area is immediately on the left.
