Inverell is on Gwydir Highway (B76)
Inverell is in a fertile agricultural region which produces a wide range of crops, including wheat, barley, oats, sorghum, wine grapes and maize. There is also some mining activities with tin, sapphires, zircons and diamonds (mainly industrial) being found. The Inverell Information Centre, in Campbell Street, has a huge display of sapphires that are well worth seeing. There are parking spaces for caravans and buses at the front entrance to the Information Centre but if you are towing a caravan you are best parking along Campbell Street because these parking spaces are frequently filled by cars.
