The village of Henty was originally called 'Doodle Cooma'. Nearby wetlands are still called Doodle Cooma Swamp. This swamp, which covers 20 square kilometres, is a breeding ground for waterbirds and is situated adjacent to the Henty Golf Course at the southern end of town. There is no official Information Centre in Henty, but you can pick up brochures and other information from the Library, the IGA Supermarket and the Doodle Cooma Craft Shop. There are also brochure boxes located at various sites around town.
