The Cobb Highway runs from the Barrier Highway in the north (19 kilometre south of Wilcannia), to Moama which is just north of the New South Wales / Victoria border in the south. It is 589 kilometres long and a 7.20 hour drive. The kilometres mentioned in this website are approximate only.
The Cobb Highway is also known as the ‘Long Paddock’. There are interpretive panels placed along the highway that tell the history of this part of Australia. In both words and images the panels tell the story of the pioneers, drovers, shearers, indigenous people and transport that are so important as to how our nation developed.
You can pick up a complimentary full colour souvenir brochure from any of the Visitor Information Centres along the highway which will give you all the information you need to travel the ‘Long Paddock. You can also purchase The Long Paddock Audio Tour CD and learn all about the route from the comfort of your own vehicle.
The Long Paddock Cobb Highway Touring Route provides a unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the drovers and pioneers who opened up much of the area.
