The Barkly Highway runs from Cloncurry to the Queensland / Northern Territory border 13 kilometres west of Camooweal. It then continues through the Northern Territory to Tennant Creek. The Queensland section of the highway is 367 kilometres long and a 4.15 hour drive. The kilometres mentioned in this website are approximate only.

Known as the 'Gateway to the Northern Territory'. The road from Mount Isa to Camooweal is known to the locals as “Tojo’s” highway. It has been upgraded and is now a first class bitumen road.
